RESOURCES

This session explores the vestibular and proprioceptive senses and how differences in these systems affect movement, safety, and regulation. It examines balance, body awareness, coordination, and the impact of unmet body-sense needs on learning, behaviour, and wellbeing.

The participant will be able to:

  1. Define vestibular and proprioceptive senses and explain their role in balance, movement, posture, and body awareness.
  2. Identify signs of over- and under-sensitivity in vestibular and proprioceptive processing and how these may present as physical behaviors.
  3. Apply practical, sensory-informed strategies and environmental changes to support regulation, movement, safety, and to reduce negative physical behaviors.
