She have always been interested in learning about people which led her to love topics like biology and psychology in school. With the help of her biology teacher, she found out about speech and language therapy and attended an open day at a university. She completed her degree in Speech and Language Therapy in 2021 and have been working as a Speech and Language Therapist ever since.
Whilst at university she completed placements in a range of settings including specialized education schools, community paediatrics and residential homes for people with learning disabilities. Her dissertation focused on the Speech and Language Therapist’s role in supporting adults with learning disabilities to talk about death and dying. She presented her dissertation at her university and at the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) annual conference in 2021 to professionals all around the world. Her degree gave her specialist knowledge but also developed her particular interest in working with feeding difficulties, young people and people with learning disabilities.
Since she qualified she have worked in education settings with young people all the way from nursery up to college age. She have worked with diagnoses such as Autism, Developmental Language Disorder, speech sound disorders/ delays and learning disabilities. She absolutely love working with people, getting to know them as individuals. Her proudest moments in my career are when my clients start to use their skills outside of therapy sessions. It makes her so happy to see how the work she do has a direct impact on their everyday life.
