Do you have a patient that is “stuck” on a particular area of feeding? This webinar will examine how adding in sensory motor techniques can help break through a plateau in feeding therapy. Vanessa will outline various techniques to encourage straw drinking, cup drinking, puree consumption, transitioning from purees to solids, and encouraging adequate mastication for solid foods. Lastly, Vanessa will teach the participants how to address a goal for pill swallowing in therapy.

The participants will be able to:

  1. Identify why a child is orally defensive and how to work through it in a playful healthy
    manner.
  2. Describe 5 various treatment techniques in feeding therapy.
  3. Describe 3 positive play based techniques to encourage the child to work through
    various difficulties.
  • 15 minutes Overview
  • 15 minutes Oral aversion
  • 30 minutes Straw drinking, cup drinking
  • 30 minutes Introduction of purees, progression to solids and proper mastication
  • 15 minutes Teaching how to swallow pills
  • 15 minutes Q&A
